Just a warning to those who may be considering upgrading from version 11 or
lower to version 12. In V12 Snagit removed the option of text capture. I use
this a lot and was disappointed it was removed. I purchased an upgrade and got
caught. (I was offered a refund.) I have to use version 11 for text capture.

I could not agree more. All of the Faststone programs are excellent; I have
used Capture since its release and the image viewer/editor (which is free)
every day for 95% of my photo work. Snagit is, frankly, overpriced for its
capabilities.

I've only sampled the webinar but it would seem that the only thing Snagit does
that Faststone Capture doesn't do is capture editable text - and the example on
the Snagit Text capture video isn't even needed in Windows 8.1 as a folder list
can be copied and pasted.

I've been using Faststone Capture for a couple of months after getting fed up
with the capture program I was using and like it a lot. Costs $19.95. I'd take
a lot of convincing that Snagit was worth the cost.

Just a couple of updates from today's webinar.

1. Snagit updates are not free ... unless you purchase an upgrade
maintenance plan - $24.95/yr. - not sure if you get a discount on this
one.
2. You can upgrade from previous versions for $24.95 ... but there
doesn't seem to be any discount for webinar attendees ... unless I
have the code wrong "familytree"
