The following information is from the Family Search Help Center in regards to uploading GEDCOM's to FamilySearch's Family Tree. They can be uploaded, but names need to be compared one by one, so as not to create duplicate records.
https://familysearch.org/ask/salesforce/viewArticle?urlname=Uploading-GEDCOM-Files-and-Copying-the-Information-to-Family-Tree&lang=en * Records from a GEDCOM file are not automatically added to the FamilySearch Family Tree database. * Individuals are not automatically linked to your individual Family Tree in FamilySearch; they must first go through the comparison process. * An uploaded GEDCOM file will not automatically create a new Family Tree for an individual. * Each record from a GEDCOM file must be manually compared, one at a time, with records in FamilySearch Family Tree so that only new records are added. This helps avoid adding duplicate records for individuals in the database. This is by design. Monique A. Gedcoms cannot be integrated with the online FS Tree building system. https://familysearch.org/family-trees Uploaded GedComs can be searched and I am sure that they are useful as clues. The IGI and the 'submitted genealogies' have been around for many years - originally sent to the FHL in Salt Lake City by both the lay public and LDS Members. As Family Historians and Genealogists, we owe it to our Ancestors and Descendants to be as accurate as we can possibly be. Martha
