Oh, wow, good information. If I may ask further, then...my understanding was 
that if I did not intend to use the Western Digital software for automatic 
backups (which I do NOT), and I only wanted to use the WD passport drive simply 
as an external hard drive, that I would not need the WD software that is on the 
passport drive. I was wrong on that?? (I wasn't worried so much about space 
taken as about trying to remember what the heck all those folders were about).
