Thanks Ernie. It's kind of frustrating to learn that I need ANOTHER program to get Legacy working right.

Jerry,
I have had the same problem in Legacy. After many attempts to clean up my file, I moved my file over to RootsMagic where it cleaned up my file and got rid of all my duplicates. Roots Magic has an auto merge were it merges all names that are mirror image, then you can go to the second stage where you can merge at zero difference between ages and do a merge at that level. It does it with the colors of green, yellow and red.. the green is exact , the yellow is the same but something is missing, and the red is not the same. The next level is one year different, then two years different. I can merge many times faster in Roots Magic than I can in legacy. Then when I am done I make a gedcom and move it back to Legacy to finished..

I am a real NOOB with Legacy, but I can see it is a very powerful
program. I enter information into my family tree using
FamilySearch.org, synchronize with Legacy and clean things up
using Legacy Family search. After I have done a substantial
amount of work I generate a new GEDCOM file and upload to
Ancestry.com. I've noticed that I have some duplicates in the
name list in Legacy Family Search (panel on the left side). These
duplicates have the _SAME_ FamilySearch ID, but different _RIN_s. They typically need some changes to make the "Family Tree Person"
match the "My Legacy Person". After doing all of that, including
sources, I click "I am finished sharing data" and the double red
arrows beside the name on the left-side panel turn green. I go
through this process with both of my duplicates and they both
remain. As far as I can tell, they are identical except for the
RINs. I have tried Refresh, Update Matches, Reload, and exiting
the program and starting over again. The duplicates remain.

Can someone suggest what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks.
