Intellishare is a special way to identify duplicates when two copies of the same file exist. Each person you add to your file has a hidden intellishare number. When you import a second copy of the same file from a second person or in this case a second computer the merge process can use those intellishare numbers to immediately identify duplicates and merge them if there are no differences. It was designed into Legacy to make sharing of research between multiple researchers easier. You will find it in the help if you search for intellishare in the help index.

I, too, have my Legacy on my desk computer and a laptop but, since I like to
work in both places, I use the wonderful Intellishare to keep things straight.
In fact, just finished an intellishare merge and both computers will be the
same for awhile. I really love that feature.

I have two PCs and like to look at my info from time to time on the one but do
not make changes to that one. My main PC is where I make my changes and updates.

Thanks - I have everything on both computers now including my updated files to
the one I only look at.. So the fun begins in learning to use Legacy 9.

Margaret,
Is the second computer to replace the first one. Or do you wish to access
your Legacy data files from both computers?

Take the file you used to install Legacy to the first computer and copy it to a
flash drive. Eject the flash drive and insert it into the second computer. Use
that file to install Legacy to the second computer.

Then any appropriate databases and media files would also have to be moved via
backup and maybe be delivered by a flash drive to the second computer.

Any settings and license information would have to be made on the second
computer, so that is will function like the first computer.

I have searched but cannot find how to put Legacy 9 on my other PC. In the
past I have had it on both PCs, but don't remember how I got it there. Can
someone tell me what to do?

Thanks

Margaret
