Susan,
First you need to get straight.
If both files had the same origin you could use Intellishare.
Even though the merge would be large with lots of people you had to consider, it may be the easiest way to go so you don't miss things that have changed.

But another option would be to create reports with all the notes included and then copy and paste from the PDF.

Here's some alternatives for keeping things straight once you have everything in one file.
It all looks more complicated than it actually is once set up.

1. You can keep your data and media files on a USB drive and move that from one computer to the other. This is probably the simplest way as you're not forever copying the files from USB to hard drive and back. Make sure in this case that you backup to the hard drive of each computer and that you back up the USB drive periodically.

OR
2. you have the files in the cloud AND wait for the syncing to happen up from one computer and down to the other before you open Legacy. Unless you always have very fast internet or are a patient person who always remembers to check that the sync has completed, then the USB drive is the safest. People with their file in the cloud who don't always have very fast internet often find they have conflicted copies.

OR
3. you use a USB drive but either restore from the latest backup on it or copy the familyfile (all the files that begin with the familyfile name as the .fdb file only saves the data, not your clipboards or set relationships or work in Research Guidance or Hints - this is why it's easier to restore the latest backup with File - Restore as it looks after all those little files for you.)

Whether you use a USB drive or the Cloud, on each computer from within Legacy you need to: a) Set Options - Customise 1.2 to look for your family file where you are keeping it. This is particularly important if you are using it from a USB drive or a cloud folder. (you are in danger of Legacy opening whatever it was set to before and getting into a mess. A new name for the file you will be transferring from one computer to the other helps - use File - Rename File when it is open. b) Set Options - Customise 6.1 to the Data folder you are using (if a USB drive, make sure it is plugged in and recognised as the same drive letter before opening Legacy or you'll need to do this every time as Legacy reverts to the default if opened when the external drive isn't there.) c) Set Options - Customise 6.2 to the Media folder on the USB drive or cloud folder if that's where your media is now. d) make sure you backup to the Hard Drive on each computer or a cloud folder if you are using a USB drive for your data. Try to make sure the path is the same on both computers so you don't have to change this all the time. eg: C:\Legacy Backups\ as this is remembered by the Family File.

Media
Depending on how the Media Folders have been named in Legacy, just setting 6.2 will relink all the media assuming it was all linked before you started. If it doesn't, it's worth changing to what was introduced in Legacy 8. [Default Media Folder]\ can be used as a code for the path entered in Option 6.2
Click the View Current List of Media Folders button at 6.2 to see.
You can change to this using Search and Replace on Media Folders if the first part of the path for all folders is what you've entered in Option 6.2.
eg: Find:C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Legacy Family Tree\Media\
Replace with: [Default Media Folder]\
or in my case
Find: D:\Cloud\Dropbox\LegacyMedia\
Replace with: [Default Media Folder]\

Note if you use a Media Backup to transfer your media to another computer, this is a zip file and you have to extract the files yourself outside of Legacy. I was using 2 computers for convenience and not thinking of the
consequences. There is a lot of information that was typed in. I
completely type all records word for word...wills, death certificates,
etc. I guess I could use a flash drive and copy the typed information
to it and put it on the other computer. I do use One Drive and
possibly that could be my answer.

Margaret,
Is the second computer to replace the first one. Or do you wish to
access your Legacy data files from both computers?

*Take the file you used to install Legacy to the first

install Legacy to the second computer.____*

*Then any appropriate databases and media files would also
have to be moved via backup and maybe be delivered by a flash

I have searched but cannot find how to put Legacy 9 on my
other PC. In the past I have had it on both PCs, but don't
remember how I got it there. Can someone tell me what to do?____

Thanks____
