Jane,

Still using version 8. I add to name suffix box, "DNA Chr 1 match to Jay", etc. Can search for and create list of people with "DNA data, Chr 1, Match to Jay" matches in my data. Works, but would like to be able to include a lot more of the DNA match data.

Also is visible in reports and books sent to cousins and other researchers.

Anyone have a really good way of doing this in Version 9?

Must be able to easily search all the DNA data in Legacy!

I can not handle using extensive DNA spreadsheet data and updating. Expect Legacy to do that for me.

Jay

Thank you. That worked out.

Now for a whole new question. (I recently downloaded V. 9 and resumed working on genealogy after a long layoff, so will be peppering the list with questions for a while.) I'm afraid I have forgotten quite a bit, or perhaps, never knew enough.

I wish to indicate DNA confirmation for those ancestors that I have documentation (DNA testing) for. I went to the DNA symbol using the icon on the event screen. Problem 1: It did not list the Ancestry autosomal test as an option for name of test. and problem 2: I typed info into the notes space (the "Recorded Test" box would not allow input) but when I closed the DNA screen the info I had input into the Notes space had disappeared.

I am looking for a simple way to indicate which ancestors I have DNA confirmation of. I am thinking of using the Hashtag function for that.

All you have to put in the Sentence Override is

    [Notes]

Your notes go in the normal place.

Then in the Report make sure you are including Event Notes.
In each Report you need to click Report Options button then on the
Include Tab check to include Events and click the Event Options
button to get the option to include Event Notes.

I tried to use the sentence overide, but it only accepts part of
    the
note I have written. I did a copy paste and it only picked up
    part of
the note. Then I tried to type in the balance of the note, but it
    would not allow the typing.

        Jane,
You could edit the Event Sentence Definitions for Occupation so
that they all just read [Notes] which may not be what you
    want for
other people with an Occupation event.

Either work with the Event Sentences.
eg you can change the definition to [FirstName] worked at
    [Desc] ...
        or [FirstHeShe] worked ...
[FirstHeShe] alternates the first name with he/she for events.

OR use the Sentence Override for Elizabeth and just add
    [Notes] there.
