Jay and others,
Legacy 9 has no more problems than Legacy 8. There have been some bug fixes in 9 that have not been fixed in 8. Yes there are some bugs in Legacy 9 new features though not that many - certainly nothing like the bugs that were in Legacy 8 new features when first released.
Perhaps you are confused by user error issues.

In the code shared with Legacy 8 there are less bugs in Legacy 9.

Jill,
there was a problem with clicking Add a child after the Creators Update of Windows 10. The fixes to that caused some other problems. Most of these have been fixed in both Legacy 8 and 9. Remaining ones will only be fixed in Legacy 9. If you update to the latest version of Legacy 8 you should be fine. You may find right click menus sometimes jump a bit rather than selecting your choice. Selecting it again and it works.

Jill,

Do a system virus check and clean first to see if that helps.

Have you done all the updates to version 8?

You can uninstall Legacy 8 and re-install it if version 8 is available on the web site. You will not lose data. But, do a full backup of data media to an external hard drive or thumb drive first!

Legacy 9 still has problems, so I do not recommend changing to version 9 until you need it for some reason.

Thank you for your reply. I have Legacy8 Deluxe Edition. I didn't actually see the help index, which I've now discovered. It's when I click on Tech Support that a new web page opens but nothing loads, it just remains blank.

I've closed Legacy and rebooted my computer several times and I've opened different family trees, and they all have the same problem.

I normally add children by clicking on "Click to add a child" which no longer works. However, I've since discovered the Add key in the bar across the top and that does work, so I guess my problem is resolved.

If this were me, the first thing I would do is to close Legacy down and then reboot my computer. Sometimes doing this will set things right. If Legacy will close properly, then this shouldn’t cause a problem and might help.

If you can close Legacy, you might try rebooting first and then report back.

When you say none of the options in the Help button work, only open blank web pages. Do you mean when you click one of the menu items such as Tech Support, Request Feature, Legacy Home Page, Download update, etc. that you get a blank web page?

What happens when you click on Help Index?

Also please say what version of Legacy and what version of Windows you are using.

Mary

Hello

I'm not sure what's happened to my Legacy software. None of the options in the "help" button work, they just open a blank web page. I can't add a child as neither left or right mouse clicks work at all.

Please can someone explain what I need to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
