Hi Easiest action would be to restore a backup. Hopefully you will not have to add much to catch up.
Otherwise look for your lost Legacy File. It should be in a windows folder named Legacy Family Tree within a sub file called Data.( If you know the file name this can be found by searching for it in Windows.) You should see the Legacy logo next to a file and several other files. If the Legacy logo file has a large amount of info (KBs), its still there. Try opening this file by double clicking on it. If in luck it should appear with all of your data. A more technically problem might mean you somehow changed the extension on some of the files and Legacy no longer recognises it. (If you have a copy of the Sample Data family you can skip Step 1) Step 1 Open Legacy and restore an old backup. Save it with a different name to your original one e.g. Old Family. Go back to the windows data folder. Step 2 Compare the new file name (or Sample Data files) to your original files. Make sure the similarly named files have the same extensions. Change the extension names by right clicking on the name and rename the file extension after the dot (eg xxxxxxxx.fg) Warning: As always it would be wise to make a backup before you make any changes. If you didn't do it from within Legacy - File - Rename File it's a difficult thing to do as you have to rename every file that makes up your family file properly AND not lose the extension. If you did change the filename in Legacy then it should be on your Recent File list. See this article on how to access that if you don't know. http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00895/ Cathy Charles Davenport wrote: Try looking for the file extension Charles Davenport Sent from my iPhone On May 22, 2018, at 2:57 PM, donna1 <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: I changed the name of a family file and thought I did everything correctly.
