I don't make the death notice (or obituary) an event. I use it as a source for the death and/or burial. The newspaper article is not an event but it does document the death and possibly the funeral (and funeral home where the records could be located) the burial date and cemetery where records could be located, and other information such as the minister, church the person attended etc. The source would contain the newspaper and article details such as newspaper title, location where published date, page and column of the article and where it can be found to review again.
