I would like to add a couple comments here.

I agree the program installation should be defaulted to the "Program
Files/Legacy" folder.

I also think that all the user files should be defaulted to "My
Documents/Legacy" (with some appropriate subdirectory structure). This would
include all data files, picture files, sound files, etc.

The Sample.fdb and all it's associated files could be in some subdirectory
in the program files/Legacy Structure so it doesn't get mixed in with the
users family data.

It would be nice if each family.fdb had it's own set of defaults, i.e. it's
own set of .usr and .wfo files that get loaded whenever the database is
opened.

It would also be nice to have the option of changing where the .usr and .wf0
files are located.

Just my $.02

Of course now we have to ask ourselves. Would we rather have the S/W gurus
working on restructuring the S/W or fixing report issues? I think they have
a full plate and are doing a terrific job. I'm really not complaining.....

Oh, and by the way, whenever I install software I always take the defaults
specifically because of the problems you are having. I was thinking of
uninstalling Legacy and reinstalling in Program files but you have convinced
me that I probably don't want to mess with a working package.

So, thanks Ron.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Installing upgrade April 14th

Hello LUG

I'm running Legacy 5 Deluxe, which is installed in c:\program files\Legacy5.
I will first grumble a bit that Legacy seems out of step in it's default
installation location of c:\Legacy and would ask that be changed to the norm
within \program files.

But this morning there was a new wrinkle when I upgraded using the
application's upgrade link, creating and installing into new folder
c:\Legacy\ without asking or giving any opportunity to change the
installation folder. The installation did not incorporate any of my .USR
settings nor my registration for the Deluxe version.

Needless to say, I went thru some hoops and got rid of the upgrade
installation, going back to the current version from last October.

So the question is how one might get this to install properly?

Thanks,
RonKZ
