This can be done. The downside to this is it takes a little thinking about
how best to do this, but here is how I would approach it.
1. Display the mother in the Wife box.
2. Click marriage information (yes, I know she was not married, bear with me
please.)
3. About the bottom third or so of the window, is a box labeled Wording
Options. I just tried it, and while I didn't get exactly what you want, I
got close by changing the wording options. Careful here, this where the
changes on the report for Mary will be present.

Don't worry about the wording you choose appearing for other
marriages/unions. Whatever wording you choose will be just for Mary and
unknown father until you change that.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Unmarried mother

Hi Group, I hope some might be able to help with the wording for an
unmarried mother, in recent times.

Mary Smith had a daughter. Father not known. I have marked Mary as
unmarried, but when I print out a Book Report - Descendant Narrative it
reads

Mary had a child. They had one daughter Ann

Can I get it to read She had a daughter

Many thanks
Susan
