How are you creating correctly formatted endnotes available for footnotes?

The formatting of the note should be correct as it comes from Legacy. I haven't tried it yet from Legacy, but I think what I would do is open the RTF or text document in two windows, one opened to the place in the document where the reference number is located, and one (the read only copy) opened to the place where the endnotes are. Then I could "copy" the endnote, switch to the other version, create a footnote or endnote and "paste" the endnote text into it. When I had all of the notes processed, I would go to the end of that document and delete the original list of endnotes (since they are all now contained in either endnotes or footnotes).

One of my goals in clean-up for a book type report is a smooth flow for the reader. For example, when I use a term that is unfamiliar to most people, I often include a dictionary definition, and put it in a footnote.

As I moved the information from the book into Legacy, I had to put clarifying footnotes in parens in the general notes. I would reverse that process when creating a report. I haven't figured out any other way to do it.
