Hi Lynne,

Sooner or later you will want the delux version. It is a download. In fact you already have it in the basic edition but you need to go onto the Legacy web site to pay and obtain the key to unlock it. It has just occurred to me that if you got it off a magazine disk you may have version 5, so you may wish to download version 6 first. If you do not have broadband it is big download!

The research options in the UK (I also live in the UK) are limited but having said that the IGI Search is excellent (I think this is only available on the delux).

I have no experience of the training videos so perhaps someone else can help here.

Subject: [LegacyUG] New Legacy User

Hi all,

I am very new to researching my family history - a couple of weeks. I installed Legacy Basic Edition which came on a free disk with a magazine, played around a while, had a day out looking at family headstones and I seem to have become hooked on finding out more.

Can I ask for advice from those more experienced?

Would upgrading to the deluxe version be a good idea for a 'newbie' and if so, what are the advantages of buying a CD rather than a download?

I live in UK, does the deluxe version work well with research options in Great Britain?

Have folks found the set of training videos useful?

I have an offer to have this for my birthday and would appreciate any input.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

Thanks
Lynne
