For those of you using GMAIL to back up your Legacy file (I have done it in the past, too), you may wish to consider this. Google, owners of GMAIL, keep all emails sent or received using their program in perpetuity. (Even if you erase it.) So if you choose to save all your data with private names, birthdates, social security numbers, addresses, etc., be aware that your attachment is a text searchable file saved on a remote server. [I read this originally at an online news site, but can't locate the file.]
An alternative is to use Legacy's GEDCOM export, and choose the options that would eliminate those private pieces of information, and then save that as your backup by gmail. Or simply, don't include personal identifying information in your Legacy database (i.e. addresses and social security numbers for living people). Something to keep in mind, Susan Daily (I use the last option.) On 2/13/06, Roxanne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > ....is there anyone here who would like an invitation > to Gmail?
