Here is a typical entry from genindex.html:

<dt><a href="directives.html#index-812">@asis</a>, <a
href="glossary.html#index-336">[1]</a></dt>

Thus, the [1] and [2] entries are hard coded, and css is unlikely to
be of any help.

Perhaps there are sphinx options that would disambiguate the entries
more clearly, but I am not aware of any.
