Perhaps you could email him and suggest, instead of a term that means
nothing to most people (affordances), he could use a term like
'possible-actions' or something ;-)

So I guess we could add a tooltip to the pane dividers to tell the user
there's a right click context menu, perhaps with a @setting to turn it
off, seeing it seems like it would be annoying for users once they know
it's there.  The problem is pane dividers don't usually have context
menus, but this uniquely flexible layout system (copied from Blender)
needs the context of the pane divider.  Also the help / settings
menu(s) should have a Layout item which opens the help for the layout
system which immediately tells people it's right click on pane divider
to access.
