The idea behind point 2 is that "packing" a tree of clones into a tree of bookmarks is safer than writing the actual clones either to a .leo file or an external file. There is no possibility of clone wars. Furthermore, the "packed tree" is a concise representation of a view. The idea behind point 1 is that "unpacking" a view should be straightforward.
