I think the responses should vary according to the issue.  Sometimes,
like this post, not keeping a record within a specific trac ticket is
appropriate.  Keeping some discussions here is OK.  Moving some
discussions to -dev  is sometimes appropriate too.

The problem with these options is that we sometimes make mistakes.
There is nothing preventing one from placing -book or -dev posts into
trac however.

I do think it is also appropriate to remind devs to put appropriate
remarks into trac and not just on the lists.
