#2144: shadow-4.1.0 --------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: [email protected] Type: task | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: 7.0 Component: Book | Version: SVN Severity: normal | Resolution: Keywords: | --------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):
The issue here, Steve, is that the 'create a group with the same name as a user' policy *cannot* be controlled via a command line switch at the moment. Although the flag variables are in the source (see 'nflag' sed above), no code is present that handles a '-n' command-line switch. That means that the current version of Shadow is inflicting the policy (which is different than prior versions of Shadow) on its users with no means of changing it after compile/install time. I'd much rather us change the policy back to how things were as that will lead to the least surprise amongst users. Once upstream provide a means of changing/overriding policy via the command line and/or config files, we can document that in the book.
