http://www.lwn.net has a distro list that is very comprehensive and explanatory. Get to know Linux and the general UNIX philosophy, try many things on the Linux you choose, and finally get used to the command-line, similar to using DOS, and compiling programmes the UNIX way. When the instructions in the book start to make sense from the knowledge you gain, then we'll be happy to point you to more specific assistance.


Thanks again for all the help, I see now that i have jumped in way over my head. I think I am going to go this way(the above way) and will hopefully learn a lot from it. Thanks for all of the help. No harm done [EMAIL PROTECTED], I do understand. If this doesn't work I'll probably try Knoppix.
