Find out what gpm is (a mouse deamon) and make it work on your build
system, before even starting to read the LFS book. You will hate
yourself later if you don't offer yourself the luxury of its copy and
paste option. Seriously, it is extremely time saving.
You might do yourself a great favor by making sure you don't need your
win98 installation anymore. It is easy to kill your master boot record,
which is not generally a problem, unless you don't know how to repair
it. In other words, get an internet connection on both machines.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the help so far from Warren and Jason, but what would
my build system be, or do I have one? Also I'm not sure what your
trying to say about the win98 thing. I couldn't care less if i ruined
the computer if thats what you mean its old and pretty much useless
except for this learning experience.
Thanks again, Chris
Build system = host system <= LFS book - preface.
The system you use to build your system. Sounds strange, but it is
correct.
About x86 or ppc, I'll give you a hint:
x86 ppc x86-64 mips arm ia32
Warning: if your old monster has less than 32MB RAM, you will do a lot
of thumb twisting.

Thanks, I really need to look at that preface.
