Hello,
I am 1yr into linux. Having fun! Learning alot.
I have an AMD k6-2 /128mb ram /4gb hd laptop.
I have been running a dual boot with Win'98se and RH9.
Each has 2gb hd space to run in but I also use a lot of vfat space on the 98 side:)
Even so, I am down to about 100mb of linux ext3 working space.
I may be able to loose enough RH9 stuff to get 500mb free.

i have a similar equipment and have been able to do the builds/install and everythyings works fine here...though the compile times in the case of glibc and similar sized pkgs could get sort of long, so make sure you have some coffee/movies/etc.

maybe you could crosscompile from a more powerful platfrom and then move the build to your machine (i did it that way for some parts): there is a hint explaining how

i have to give my little opinion as well about the "package user management system" hint. It was a huge help to have crossed with that one, and saved me from a lot of error during the lfs install that otherwise would been a PIT to solve!

good luck
