Aha!  It's mostly all that's in dmesg with a prefix that says usb-
storage.  It's VERY active.  I do have a _little_ USB "fingernail" drive
cold-plugged in back for backup use.  I can try pulling that to confirm.
 But this seems like a problem that needs fixing.  8-(

Is something like that a udev or driver fix?

Oooh, I didn't know about "dmesg -n"!  I like it!  8-)

But, just personally, I don't like the idea of rc.site.  If the user is
expected to know about it and how to use it, then 1) (s)he can just make
those changes in rc & functions, and 2) there's no reason to still have
them in rc & functions--one or the other, but not both.  Personal
opinion, mind you.  ;-)

Indeed, and even so, it's not clear what they "mean", what the
implications are.  Particularly so for new options.  I don't have time
to follow all the kernel lists about things that seem to be irrelevant
to my "here and now".
