I think so too, but I can't find an appropriate kernel parameter. I
thought I found it last night when I saw the word "spew" in the Help for
XHCI verbose debug, but no such luck. Still looking, and at kernel
patch changelogs.

That's all I meant by "introduced". i.e. introduced into my build chain.
Because if I knew where it came into the kernel, then I'd know just
where to go to be before it, right? ;-) I see there's now a 3.10.63
patch, but the changelog for it doesn't seem to mention this sort of
correction.

Not that I recall seeing as I was going through all the parameters. I
think getting the udev announcement of the device assignment is
valuable, and I didn't see those with 4, though I was looking more at
this other clutter.

I guess it is, as turning it into a module that wasn't loaded didn't
stop the noise.

This little thing is barely longer than the USB-A connector itself! So
it's not a mechanical leverage threat to breaking something. It's just
nice having it there for a quick backup. I'm _assuming_ by now USB
software has gotten enough attention to be safe reliable--except when it
spews garbage all over the console! 8-(

Thanks for that! It's quite a bit different in new kernel stuff, and
"intent". In this "basic default" kernel that will be initially
installed on new systems here, my goal is something that will boot on
whatever i686 PC gets thrown at it, with customization to come later.
It probably needs ISA support(!) for example. ;-)

It showed me I don't need Control Groups.
