Well, doing some more internet searches and having the time to compile
again... (1 SBU is 34 secs for me) gave me this:
On the second pass of GCC the variables being set and the configuration
script needed to be on one line for it to work properly.
It would be nice to have it say right at that part: This next snippet of
code must all be on one line, or else you will have to start over.
