In the pdf file of the book, version 7-10systemd. i am attempting to build
linux from Ubuntu 16.10, 32 bit.
im in Part 2, chapter 3.1, trying to run the command "wget
--input-file=wget-list --continue --directory-prefix=$LFS/sources"
One consistent error we see is that $LFS is not defined for the user doing
an operation. Be sure that is set. Also make sure the permissions for
the $LFS/sources directory are correct for the user doing the wget command.
im unable to provide the output of the command because im not home, however
it does tell me (from what i can remember), that "wget-list" is an invalid
URL?
ill give the output when i can. i was able to find the link to the list of
all the download websites for the packages, and when i put the first link
in, in place of wget-list in the command, it returns with a loop of stuff
and it says that file can not be found and a 404 error. i am able to visit
the link and get the package downloaded that way.
Depending on what version of the book you are using, you can get all the
packages in a single tar file:
ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/lfs/lfs-packages/
If you are using the development version of the book, you will need to
download the packages individually. Note that starting with the 7.10
stable release, all the packages for both sysv and systemd versions of the
book are consolidated in one tarball.
