Anna,
According to my dictionary, you prefer the second definition over the first. "Exploitation" is only "taking advantage of", which more denotes harmless/consensual trading than robbery. In other words, "seeing an opportunity as the situation arises" would less often mean "opportunities to steal". The normal result of typical capitalist transactions are mutual profit. You seem to think that at least one of the two engaged in the transaction will suffer. Why are you determined to see the glass as not only half empty, but see it containing mud instead of water?? Your "duping" example consists of the natural drive for capitalist efficiency through consensual arrangements, to which you claim the need for non-consensual remedies. Would you "fix" a computer with a hammer - only because you didn't understand how it worked (and had watched way too many horror movies)?? -Mark _____ Good question, what is an exploitation then? I would say robbing others of their honest pay for an honest effort, or duping less privileged into accepting a deal which will rob him of what is owned them fair and square. But, what is fair and square? Example: two men seek work. They decide to form a contractor team. One seeks the contracts, the other does the physical job. The guy who seeks contracts charges 50 dollars per foot of a finished home. But since the ongoing rate for a physical work is 10 dollars , this is how much he will pay his partner/worker himself taking the rest. How do you think the money should be divided?
