You are quite correct. All animal life is parasitic, more or
less. Plant life may be less so.

By this definition, we are the parasites too as we depend on
other animals and plants as our food; on air to give us oxygen
thus depleting the earth's atmosphere etc...  We have very
specific needs and to satisfy them,  we parasite other life
forms. Do you think there is much difference between a virus
killing a cow and a man killing a  cow? Both do it for their
survival. A parasite gives nothing in return, what have we given
back to the earth besides  polution?
