A crazed killer enters the room and begins slashing people 
with a big knife; then turns to you...  

Must you wait for him to cut into you BEFORE you shoot him?  

Someone you know to be somewhat vicious and short tempered, 
loads his pistol, shoots a cat, then takes slow deliberate 
aim upon you from just a few feet away....

Do you think you have no right to 'pre-emptivly' defend yourself?  

I don't see how Iraq, or even Afghanistan, were 'credible' threats!
