"Paul/Marrou didn't do much better than Badnarik..."

Really Steven??? 435,000 to 393,000 is not hugely better, but
certainly "significantly" better.

You may wish to consider that 1984 was a banner dissaster year for
the Libertarian Party. David Bergland the Party's nominee nearly
destroyed the Party with his paltry 228,000 votes, so much so, that
there was serious talk of closing down the LP altogether in early
1985. I know you know this, cause you're an oldtimer.

Bringing the LP back from near-extinction from 1984 to 1988 was a
near Herculean task for Ron Paul and his team.

I dare say that if Browne had caved in 2000, to similar levels, say
230,000 votes, Badnarik would have had a similar Herculean task to
undertake to bring the LP back to a decent position.

As it was, Badnarik was coming off a 375,000 vote total for Browne,
and could only pick up another 18,000 votes or so. Not nearly as
impressive as going from 228,000 to 435,000.

And spare us the "Bush is a deserter crap, please..." Bush served.
As far as I know you did not. It's one thing for Honorably
Discharged Vets like myself and Paul Ireland to denigrate Bush's
service, (If Ireland does on this Forum he has every DAMNED Right
to, cause he served 4 years in the Navy!), quite another for
individuals like yourself who never served to bash Guardsman. Sure,
the Guard is not quite like being on Active Duty, but it's entirely
honorable service.

Interesting factoid I heard the other day: Do you realize George W.
Bush is the ONLY US President in our entire History to have piloted
a Jet Fighter? Think about that for a second. Bush's Dad, No.
Eisnehower, No. Nixon, No. Reagan, No. Certainly not Clinton.
And Carter, who had a respectable service record as an Officer in
the Navy served mostly on Subs.

To call Bush a "Top Gun" is a stretch. But it is kind of cool, that
we have a Commander in Chief who actually piloted Jet Fighters.
