Libertarianism requires military non-interventionism and never using the U.S. military to attack any nation that has not directly attacked ours. Libertarianism supports DEFENSE which never includes STARTING wars. Libertarianism supports using the U.S. military only for the defense of America, and never for enforcing UN sanctions, performing humanitarian aid or peacekeeping missions, never for overthrowing dictators in foreign nations, never for "liberating" oppressed people abroad, etc.
Those who don't believe in those things aren't advocating libertarianism. There is no libertarian support for the war in Iraq. Also, Bill Winter's estimate is worthless. There is an EXTREMELY small group of Iraq war supporters in the LP (less than 10%), but none of them are actually advocating libertarianism. --- In [email protected], "Eric Dondero Rittberg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Perhaps because as LP News Editor Bill Winters estimated by letters > to the editor and emails in 2003, fully "40% of the Libertarian > Party's members supported the War in Iraq." > > Since the very inception of the Libertarian Party there's been a > strong minority of Pro-Defense advocates in Libertarian ranks. > > Have you ever heard of the Libertarian Defense Caucus headed by Mike > Dunn, Bob Poole and Cliff Thies in the 1970s and 80s? > > Not all Libertarian advocates share defeatists pacifist views on foreign policy.
