Partial platform of Charles McPeek, LP candidate for Congress in Maryland:
- Mandatory registration to vote ("Incumbents stay because the little
people don't vote ... I want to require young people to register to vote")
- Mandatory military service (using the mandatory voter registration
as a database to catch everyone).
- Abolish the income tax and replace it with a flat sales tax, which
probably means he's a "fair" taxer, but that's unfortunately not
uncommon in LP ranks these days.
- Oh, and he wants to reduce "minor" drug offenses to misdemeanors --
not because drugs shouldn't be illegal, but because he wants to make
sure that defendants don't have pesky lawyers like, you know,
defending them or anything.
