On a much more positive note, anti-drug activist Kevin Zeese is running
for the US Senate in Maryland as an anti-war Libertarian, Green and Populist.
If this could be done throughout our nation without compromising essential
principles, we could recapture our country and begin to restore liberty.
I haven't read his site thoroughly, but I could find no violation of libertarian
principles. I am sure if there are any, folks on this list would be the first to
inform us. http://www.kevinzeese.com/
As for McPeek , nobody who advocates conscription should ever be supported
by any decent person and certainly not by L/libertarians.

For life and liberty,
David Macko

Subject: [Libertarian] Another interesting LP candidate

Partial platform of Charles McPeek, LP candidate for Congress in Maryland:

  - Mandatory registration to vote ("Incumbents stay because the little
people don't vote ... I want to require young people to register to vote")

  - Mandatory military service (using the mandatory voter registration
as a database to catch everyone).

  - Abolish the income tax and replace it with a flat sales tax, which
probably means he's a "fair" taxer, but that's unfortunately not
uncommon in LP ranks these days.

  - Oh, and he wants to reduce "minor" drug offenses to misdemeanors --
not because drugs shouldn't be illegal, but because he wants to make
sure that defendants don't have pesky lawyers like, you know,
  defending them or anything.
