Are you saying that life ain't fair? True. If, however, one grants
that a prime responsibility of the federal government is the defense
of the country, then you need to defend an alternative to the draft.
Everything you say is true, but is outside the context of personal
responsibility in the defense of the country. Again, I contend that
a mercenary force is not a good solution in a free society, and that
we will not get enough volunteers any other way, sans the draft. In
your last statement, substitute the word war for draft. Although it
is undeniably evil, it is sometimes necessary. Allthat said, good
point!
