OK, I take that back.

In 0.6.2 that line is an error() which can only occur if the code has
been compiled with DIM < 3.  This is likely a bug on our part, because
we rarely compile with DIM=2, which I assume you did?  A quick fix
might be to re-configure with DIM=3 and see if the seg-fault goes
away.
