Since SortExample2.xls sorts correctly with 12-hour-clock times in my old
version of Calc, here are the questions I have:
1. In opening SortExample.csv in the current version of Calc, do the dates and
times in the CSV data get converted automatically into date and time values
that sort correctly? If not, could Calc display some kind of warning? If not,
is the behavior of Calc per specification? (If not, there is a bug.) If so, is
there some kind of warning in the documentation for Calc to tell the user that
dates and times in csv data might not be recognized and the user might need to
set the cell formats manually? If not, would you like me to write a paragraph
in the documentation about this?
Supposing the date and time data in Columns A and B does not sort correctly
the first time, does manually setting the number format to Date or Time correct
the sorting? Does the documentation say that you need to set Number Format to
"General" to get the sorting to work?
(I realize that my nested questions might be confusing or ambiguous. I
basically am asking if any changes in Calc or the documentation are
warranted/appropriate.)
2. In opening SortExample.xls in the current version of Calc, does Sort handle
the 12-hour-clock times in Column B correctly? If not, is this per 2. In
opening SortExample.xls in the current version of Calc, does Sort handle the
12-hour-clock times in Column B correctly? If not, is this per specification?
(If not, there is a bug.) If so, is there some kind of warning in the
documentation for Calc to tell the user that dates and times might not sort as
expected? If not, would you like me to write a paragraph in the specification?
