--- Comment #2 from Ivan Stephen <[email protected]> ---
Hi Joren,

I'm on OS 1.7.5. I no longer have the latest tiny spreadsheet that was open
when the problem occurred yet again today, as it was gone when I recovered the
open files. One of my concerns is that one file is fairly large, but not
enormous by spreadsheet standards (with few numbers, no macros, etc.) - and is
very slow to open and save.

I really don't want to keep downloading new versions of LibreOffice, if there
is no advantage to them, or if I'll have new problems. Are you saying that the
4.1.0 RC1 version is better than 4.0.4.2 (which I thought was the most recent
non-beta
version)?

I'm having trouble making sense of the "user profile reset". I'd never even
heard of this until now. As someone who struggles with technology, I find that
I become very unproductive when having these problems. It would make the
concept of a "productivity suite" somewhat laughable, if I weren't struggling
financially as well.

It's suggested online that we should tinker with LibreOffice preferences for
faster opening and saving. However - it also warns that "some of the changes
may adversely affect RAM" (but doesn't say which changes!) That sort of
ambiguity just causes difficulties.

Thanks for your help. As a non-techie, I try to "give back" in other ways.

Regards,

Ivan Stephen
