I didn’t understand what the [M] does either. My initial guess based on the
wording was that it’d be something like if you are editing in the middle of a
paragraph rather than typing at the end of one. That is not the case though.
The help text explains it more clearly:

“You can also apply [M] AutoCorrect options to a selection or a whole document
of existing text by using Tools - AutoCorrect - Apply.”

I think we should change the explanation of [M] to “[A] When applying
AutoCorrect to an existing text”. I think it’d be really helpful to have the
word “apply” in there because that is the name of the menu option used to
invoke the operation. We should get rid of “modify” because that is very vague
and maybe change the [M] to [A] for “apply”.
