--- Comment #5 from ady <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Sascha Krämer from comment #4) > Created attachment 208866 [details] > Video showing the problem The location of the mouse pointer seems (more or less) correct at first – imagine the spilling paint thrown over the relevant cell. But just before the paste, the mouse pointer seems to be moving down, "suddenly and violently" (in comparison to the prior movements of the mouse pointer). The impression is that the action of pressing the mouse button with your finger has the additional (unwanted) consequence of slightly moving your hand, causing the (unwanted) movement of the mouse, and thus also moving down the actual location of the mouse pointer exactly when the paste action is about to happen. That is just my impression from the video. Going back to my first paragraph, I would suggest to start by locating the mouse pointer slightly upwards – imagine trying to target the spilling paint on the center of the destination cell. There is one additional factor to consider. The size of the mouse pointer is usually not related to the zoom factor used within Calc; these two are controlled independently. To see what I mean, please change the zoom factor within Calc to some very small value such as 25%. In such situation, it would be more difficult (or impossible) to position the mouse pointer exactly on the desired destination cell, no matter the specific way the mouse pointer would look like. The simple workaround would be to (temporarily) change the zoom factor within Calc to a much higher factor (from 25% to 250% for example), or alternatively use the Paste Special method using the keyboard instead of using the mouse. > Applying the > format via the "Clone formatting"-function should be working fine with just > the normal cursor!? I am completely against leaving the mouse pointer unchanged from normal mode during Clone mode. I would accept a different, cleaner, more precise mouse pointer that would represent the Clone formatting mode (although it would never solve the exact same situation presented in this report if the zoom factor is too small), but I would not accept leaving the same mouse pointer without indicating the current status (normal vs clone). Considering the example I gave regarding the zoom factor vs the size of the mouse pointer – both of them can be changed by the user, independently – there seems to be very limited room for improvement, while users' experience can overcome the situation (by learning tips such as temporarily changing the zoom factor, or using the keyboard and/or keyboard shortcuts). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
