Description:
Description:
- Text selection in LibreOffice Writer is extremely slow when clicking and
dragging with the laptop touchpad.
- The problem occurs immediately when dragging begins, not only when reaching
the bottom of the screen.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open a document in LibreOffice Writer.
- Click and hold to select text using the laptop touchpad.
- Drag to extend the selection.
- Notice that text selection is extremely slow.
Actual Results:
- Text selection is very slow and laggy.
Expected Results:
- Text selection should be smooth and responsive, as it is in Microsoft Word
and any other.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
- Operating system: Windows 11, 64-bit.
- LibreOffice version: 26.8.0.3 and a subsequent update.
- UI rendering: Skia/raster.
The problem occurs with both DOC and ODT documents.
The problem persists in Safe Mode.
Resetting the user profile did not resolve the selection problem.
Changing Skia and hardware acceleration settings did not resolve it.
Scrolling performance improved after resetting the user profile, but text
selection remains extremely slow.
The laptop touchpad works normally in Microsoft Word.
This appears to be a LibreOffice Writer-specific problem with touchpad drag
selection on Windows 11.
