--- Comment #4 from bchemnet <[email protected]> --- (In reply to ady from comment #3) > Yes, the change is specific to home, with and without ctrl, but the initial > question is still whether it is true that other spreadsheet tools work > differently, as claimed in comment 0. After that point is clarified, then > some alternative behavior could be possibly discussed. Respectfully, I do not care at all what Excel does. If Calc was just a clone of Excel, I would use Excel. The improved keyboard navigation of Calc was one advantage (of many) that motivated me to switch to exclusive use of Calc more than two decades ago. The issue is that the behavior in Libreoffice has recently changed, apparently without any explanation. Whether other tools work the same or differently does not change that the motivating factor for filing a bug is the change in Calc's behavior between versions. That said, a current MS Office 365 web version jumps to the boundary on the first press of home, and then to column A on a second press. To my way of thinking and workflow, that is annoying, but still vastly better than the new implementation in Calc. A Windows version of Excel 2016 and the Windows version of Calc 26.8.1 both have the same behavior as the current version of Calc in Linux: it is impossible to get to column A using home if columns have been frozen. Based on the change in MS behavior over time, even a justification for the behavior of the home key based on analogy to recent Excel should therefore not result in the current behavior. I do not have access to check what Apple Numbers or other programs do. Certainly other spreadsheet-like programs I have used over the past 4 decades always go to column A with home. Having gone back through release notes for the past few releases and searching for resolved bug reports, I do not see any comments/reports that obviously relate to this change, so I can only speculate that someone decided to implement Excel's (old) behavior without a user request to do so. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
