Julien.

Thank you for the counsel.

Followed Maxim's counsel.
Installed 4.1.2.3 once again.
Removed all extension packets showing in File Extensions Manager
Bug behavior unchanged.
Only now, any attempt to open the culprit doc results in a crash of LibreOffice
Corrupted culprit doc now permanently inaccessible.

In frustration, completely uninstalled LibreOffice from my computer.
Uninstaller repeatedly flagged Windows Search Filter Host as preventing
uninstall.
Killed the Filter Host process with Process Explorer.
Uninstaller then flagged PID 2444 which is the Intel Pro Set Monitor, aka, IPRO
Set Monitor.exe
At this point I said, no way Jose am I monkeying with killing that process
which should have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with an uninstall.
Chose IGNORE, and the uninstaller went on to successfully uninstall
LibreOffice.

Downloaded and installed Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1
Culprit doc opened perfectly without incident.
Save As . . . function to create a backup file worked perfectly.
No presence whatsoever of any bugs or glitches.

So bottom-line Julien, not going to attempt following your advice.
But truly appreciates your response.
Just going to stay clear of the stress factor, and run with Apache OpenOffice
for now.

Thank you all.

Unless someone can clearly identify the LO issue, we can just close this bug
report.
