Not certain of the benefit of proceeding further on this, especially since the phenom apparently cannot be reproduced. I have uninstalled LibreOffice, and installed Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1. The untouched culprit doc, perm "corrupted" in LO, opened, saved, save as, copy-paste-rename flawlessly in AOO, without incident or glitch of any kind. Will just sit tight with AOO for now.
