--- Comment #9 from Katarina Behrens (CIB) <[email protected]> ---
Let me rephrase this a bit: imho Martin is not disturbed by the fact that
relative hyperlinks do not work when opened from a symlink.

He is disturbed by the fact that in Calc UI, links are displayed and converted
to as absolute at all times, even if they have been (or are yet going to be)
saved as relative.

It is clearly documented that this ( = links are always displayed as absolute)
is the case and in my opinion, the chapter about differences between relative
and absolute links is one of the best written chapters of Calc Users' Guide,
but let's be honest, users don't read documentation.

Moreover, "usability" is frequently considered to be the same as "users
actually *don't* have to read documentation and learn anything about the
software they are using", but that's another topic, out of scope of this
ticket.

And to add insult to injury, the default choice is to save links as relative.

So as a result, the user who isn't aware of all this, who either didn't read
the documentation or didn't get the proper training, suddenly doesn't know what
happened to her hyperlink and why it no longer works ...
