Subject: Dynamism Libretto 1100v Offer - Buyer Beware!
Hello Folks - I'm usually very quiet about such things, but I thought I
would relate my experience with Dynamism before anyone goes off half cocked
and buys from them:
I purchased by 1100v from Dynamism in August and I've had some really severe
problems, not only with the machine, but Dynamism's service and customer
service. Shortly after I purchased the machine, I began getting the dreaded
'Error Writing to Drive C' blue screen. This was cutting it very close to a
trip that I needed the Libretto for, so instead of RMA'ing the machine to
Japan, I asked Dynamism to replace the drive with a new 20GB - and once I
returned and had the time, I'd have them ship the machine to Japan. Well,
the machine came back in short order - and with a new aesthetic feature; a
large gouge in the beautiful battery. I immediately called them to notify
them of the defect and request a new battery. I was bounced from person to
person in the company until one person said they'd investigate and call me
back. After not receiving a return phone call for two days, I called in and
was told that the technicians claimed that they didn't cause the damage
(Imagine that!) and that they don't issue RMAs for cosmetic damage. This
really didn't sit well with me, and I pushed the issue with Darius (the rep
that sold me the machine). He promised me an RMA for the battery. One month
later - still no RMA for that battery and I have called every so often to
request the RMA again. Each time I call (and Darius isn't available), my
request seems to be dealt with as if it is the first time I've called
(frustrating!).
Even the new drive is suffering the blue-screen error, and after two weeks
of requesting an RMA to send the machine to Japan - I just received it
yesterday. It needs to be said that I did all of the diagnostic work and
investigation on the error I was getting - Dynamism tech support didn't seem
to be terribly interested in helping, nor in working with me towards a
solution.
Moral? Well, I bought from Dynamism for two reasons... the price was right,
and their reputation was excellent. The price still is good, but their
reputation, in my eyes, has really taken a huge hit. I hate to think I'm the
exception here, but just consider my experience before putting any more
money into their pockets. I do have to say that Darius Mikrut, the sales rep
who sold me the machine, when he has been available, has been helpful with
all but the technical issues.
I'm not writing this to put Dynamism out of business, but it is my intention
to make sure you all know what could be your experience if you invest
hard-earned bucks with Dynamism. If you have any questions or would like
additional details, please drop me a line via email.
