Hi Neil, and others that might be insterested in reading about my endless
tryouts getting ANY version/distribution of Linux on my Libby, that gives me
at least a fully working Xserver for a graphical User Interface.
(I tried RedHat, installs SO EASY, but doesn't let me run the Xserver for
one strange reason or another PLUS floppydrive recognition.

I'm stressfully trying to install mandrake from your Mandrake v7.1 CD, but
it's a big disaster.
I have never seen such unflexible and slightly stupid installation menu's. I
LOVE Redhat.....

What I did:

1) I have a Libby 70CT running DOS, with a driver installed properly for
accessing an external CD rom.

2) I copied D:\MANDRAKE\BASE and D:\MANDRAKE\RPMS to the C: drive (20gb HD)

3) I login to the CDrom drive (D:\), go to directory D:\DOSUTILS\AUTOBOOT
and start the AUTOBOOT.BAT file

It starts copying stuff, and I get an installation menu that asks me
from what kind of CDrom I want to install it.

Bly me, I want to install from the HARDDISK, why did I copy all the stuff to
my HD for then??

How do I tell this low IQ installation routine to install from HD, NOT from
CD?

Another try:

I startup the HARDDISK.BAT batchfile, in D:\DOSUTILS\AUTOBOOT\MDKINST
I starts running, and a menu appears, I have to select the partition that
holds the MANDRAKE\BASE and the MANDRAKE\RPMS directories. in my case there
is only one partition: /dev/hda1
Below it asks for the directory that holds the Linux Mandrake.
I select the default, which is \
I click OK and.............. I get:
"Error reading second stage ramdisk"

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Next distribution please, anyone???............ (I can't help loving the
superb installation intelligence of Redhat)

Help!!!

Cheers

Robbert
