Well, as I understand it, RedHat 7.1 is at the center of a large libc
controversy, something about problems with backwards compatibility. I've
never had the courage to try it. And it's just a matter of personal taste
that I don't use 7.0, actually, so your mileage will vary for sure. :) Do
try RedHat 7.0 again with an updated version of XFree86. If you encounter
errors then, send them on over to the list; perhaps someone else has seen it
before.

The biggest downside to RedHat 6.1 is that it's pretty outdated at this
point. I planned to pare down my Libretto as a streamlined machine for
notes, organization, scheduling, and some gaming during boring lectures. ;)
I just had to do a lot of tweaking and fudging to get things to work right.

I can't vouch for anything like the server version or the professional
version; I just performed my installs over the network. Free stuff. So I'm
sure RedHat 7.0 will probably be better for you (because it certainly is a
hassle to upgrade packages and juggle old software, I must admit).
Personally, I'll be installing slackware because it has better options for a
real barebones install.

-Jason
