Re my earlier response: if it affects console on a character by character 
basis (or powers of two groups) then it's the memory. If it's still stripy 
at the level of the pixels, it's most likely the display itself.

Lib displays seem to be prone to acquiring *a* vertical line, possibly due 
to poor contacts on the edge of the display.
