Just went over this on the tp600 list ;-) yes it is possible as long as
it does not have a smart chip on the battery itself. The TP's have a
chip that after so many cycles it blows the chip from what others have
said. But you can get new cells and try.. I would use a silver based
epoxy instead of soldering on the LI-Ion battery

So, like so many of you, Ive had my libretto for a few years and 
have found the battery performance degrading. With Ni-Cads, it was 
possible to recondition the battery (of course, with nicad, the 
most obvious deterioration of performance was due to memory 
effects). Is it possible to recondition the Libretto's Lithium ion 
battery?
